The development of formal quality system standards has evolved from the military specification to the current quality system assurance spanning well over five decades. ISO 9001, the world’s most popular standard for quality management, is now under review, with an updated version due to be available by the end of 2015.

In 2005, a SAXUM management staff led the quality team of a multinational telecoms company through several process analyses and developments into the ultimate certification of the company’s quality management system in line with the ISO 9001 standard. This was a feat and indeed a great achievement for the company which gained tremendous recognition in the Nigeria telecoms industry being the first to obtain such certification.
